Cockrel Recovering

By James on

Over the last week or so we have had the cockerel in isolation for recovery and monitoring.  We have been applying healing oils to his sore feet to sooth and soften, and I have been slowly chipping away with tweezers at the built up lumps on his feet.

He is able to stand up now and is much more lively. The last couple of days we have put him out in the field during the day and he is very happy to be back with his girls again!

We still bring him in each night and clean and apply oil to his feet. It seems dirt is collecting, compressing and building up in the same place so I have been removing it each night. They still look very red and sore up the legs.

I'm not sure if this is bumblefoot as we first suspected. It looks like he may have had a cut or injury there that is collecting dirt. I will continue to clean and monitor and hope for the best.
